Although the July 6-8 weekend was a busy one, it was fantastic! On Friday, our Community Engagement Manager Sarah and her brigade hosted a successful benefit fundraiser for Habitat Nicaragua. The evening was filled with fun – a live band, Nicaraguan food, silent auction, a photo booth, and lots of good company. Thanks to the support of Habitat for Humanity Mid-Vancouver Island, the volunteers, attendees, and donors, the brigade will be able to help build another Habitat Home for a family in need in Nicaragua. A huge thank you to everyone involved that helped make this event so successful!

The fun doesn’t stop there! On Saturday, Habitat for Humanity Mid-Vancouver Island hosted the United Steel Workers Women of Steel for a Habitat Build day. These hard working and fun ladies were able to frame and assemble two new sheds that will be auctioned off in order to help support future Habitat projects. There were lots of laughs and some friendly competition as the ladies raced to build the sheds in record time.

The weekend wasn’t over just yet! To fund the Habitat Build, the Women of Steel hosted a beer and burger in Duncan on Sunday afternoon. This was another extremely successful fundraiser. The silent auction and ticket sales were able to cover the build donation plus more! Thanks Women of Steel!
