These were the emotions Candice felt after finding out she had been accepted as a Habitat Partner Family.

The single mom was having trouble qualifying for a traditional mortgage despite a steady career as a hairdresser. With the sale of the home they were renting a suite in, and the conversion of the lower suite into a noisy Airbnb, she found being a renter put her and her children’s living conditions out of her control.

Candice says the opportunity to own a home with Habitat for Humanity will make a huge difference to her and her children, Aubrey and Tucker.

“Owning my own home has been a major goal in my life for the last few years. I think every parent wants to give their kids a safe and secure place to call home.”

Candice is honoured to be a part of our growing Habitat Family in the Cowichan Valley.
