Unit 2 – Extension Rd, Nanaimo

New Single Family Home

The future homeowners chosen for Phase 1, Unit 2, a four-bedroom house was James, Lisa and their four children, Austin, Reign, Oakley and Ava, the largest family selected to date in our build history.

James and Lisa struggled in the past to make ends meet on James’ income. They moved seven times in six years and felt as though they were at the mercy of their landlords. They longed to provide their children with the security and sense of comfort that owning their own home would bring. Their very strict budget left them unable to save anything for a down payment on a home.

October 13, 2015 was the Groundbreaking ceremony for Phase 1, Unit 1 and 2 of the Meadow Hill development, and September 1, 2016 the new Habitat homeowners were handed the keys to their new home.

James said, “We feel very fortunate to have a home to call our own;a home that our children can grow up into. It feels very comforting to know that we will no longer be at the mercy of landlords deciding to sell, and us having to move and uproot the children from their established neighbourhood and relationships within the community. It is paramount that the children have a secure and comfortable home they can rely on. We are incredibly grateful for this.” After moving into their new Habitat home, Lisa said, “We are excited about spending the holidays in our new Habitat home, and carrying on our traditions, while also being able to create new ones with our children.”
