Summer Student – Marketing Coordinator

Position Overview

Location:

Nanaimo & Duncan, BC

The Marketing Coordinator will support marketing initiatives for Habitat MVI’s Nanaimo and Duncan ReStores and affiliate operations. The role focuses on increasing visibility, driving donations, and boosting store traffic through creative campaigns, with a strong emphasis on social media and digital content.

Key Responsibilities

•Support marketing activities for Nanaimo and Duncan ReStores

• Collaborate with the Events Coordinator to develop an annual marketing plan

• Create and schedule engaging social media content

• Develop branded templates for campaigns and promotions

• Produce “how-to” and DIY video content to promote ReStore products

• Assist with campaigns to increase donations and customer engagement

• Monitor and report on basic marketing metrics

Learning Outcomes

• Develop practical skills in digital marketing, content creation, and brand strategy

• Gain experience in social media planning, analytics, and campaign execution

• Build skills in video production and storytelling

• Strengthen communication, teamwork, and project management abilities

Supervision & Support

The student will report to the Executive Director and receive regular one-on-one supervision, weekly check-ins, and ongoing feedback. Training will be provided in branding, social media tools, and workplace safety.

Qualifications

• Interest in marketing, communications, or digital media

• Basic knowledge of social media platforms

• Creativity and strong communication skills

• Experience with Canva, video editing tools, or similar is an asset

Eligibility (Canada Summer Jobs)

Applicants must:

• Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment

• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act

• Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada
